Another type of potential CCS location is depleted oil & gas reservoirs. In these kinds of locations, there would typically be much more data available initially for the technical assessment of the storage capability and any potential integrity issues. Existing well records, production data, and geophysical surveys would be useful in derisking the opportunity. Here is an example of two locations investigated offshore Holland to store emissions from Rotterdam industrial emission sources.
