• Exploration drill rigs for the initial boreholes could be small, mobile rigs for either mineral exploration and/or geothermal exploration. These boreholes would ideally need to penetrate the overburden which might be volcanic tephra or ash cover (volcanic areas) or altered surface rocks (with compositions altered by contact with thermal fluids). The depth of these boreholes needs to penetrate the overburden to either access the ore body or else to pass through altered zones and penetrate into the shallow hydrothermal reservoir.
